For many people, overcoming objections is a serious setback to their intentions to sell. The objections are the negatives that the potential client offers us when trying to sell a product or service. The Hialeah Chamber of Commerce and Industries, www.hialeahchamber.org , offers you some interesting tips to overcome the moment in which the client offers you a preferential objection.
Preference objections are those arguments or excuses that the potential client uses in order to evade a commercial proposal where it indicates that:
1. You already have the competitor's services –with which you could be satisfied-
2. Maintains an alternative lifestyle and is not used to using the type of services or products that you offer.
Let's explain this:
1. When the potential customer already has the services or products of the competitor. Sometimes, when offering a product or service, the potential client argues that they already have a competing company as a supplier. Let's see some examples:
• "I'm sorry but we are already hiring your competitor"
• "For years I no longer use your product but those of your competitor"
• "I prefer to work with your competitor"
2. Maintains an alternative lifestyle. Sometimes, the client, be it a natural or legal person, maintains a lifestyle or performance that does not fit with the type of offer offered by the commercial representative. Either at the level of culture, lifestyle or simple preference. Let's see some examples:
• "This company never uses such products"
• «In my restaurant we do not sell the wines that you want to place»
The Preference Objection: Comparative Logic.
To overcome this objection, it is important to know the characteristics and benefits of your product or service. Likewise, it is necessary to recognize the characteristics and benefits of the products and services of the competition.
Start by speaking well of the competitor
Speaking well the other party - another company, another product or another competitor - even if at first glance it seems counterproductive and is something like arguing against your own interest, it is very convenient because whoever argues against himself or his own interest and he recognizes that the other is good, increases his credibility with those who listen to him.
After acknowledging the good or at least reasonable decision to work with the other, immediately the number 1 in sales, even those who negotiate with large quantities manufactured products, large goods or projects, do not get hooked on the flattery, they assume a pose of trusted advisor and say something like:
• "Your decision to work with this other company is excellent, as far as I know they are a good brand and their products or services are good, however I want you to give me a few seconds to get to know something about us ..." –very subtle and They elegantly try to introduce themselves.
They immediately place a simple white sheet under the client's reading radius, in front of the client, where he can observe it well and there they write a list of the characteristics of the competitor's service or product, comparing them with the characteristics of the service or product that they offer. You can also do it, through a conversation.
Quality Vs. Quality.
The idea is that the client recognizes, by himself, your benefits and that he does not bounce you because you are equal to or superior to the current provider in more than one aspect, and that taking a service with you is a reasonable option. If your products are not that good, argue the prices, if they are higher, argue the quality. The final verdict on this superiority must be given by the client himself, not you.
